My World In May

I am still struggling with my new computer;
it looks like all my thousands of photos have gone to a place
where Yosemite cannot go.
The app which recovers photos from the original iphoto app
isn’t available in the UK at present.

I can foresee hours of fun with Apple Helplines.

Still, new photos are accepted happily.
Editing them is a bit of a headache yet.

But practice makes perfect
so here are a couple pf pictures I took yesterday
just to be getting on with
for

Queen Anne’s Lace over the River
The Castle from the Bailey

Despite the fine weather clouds and sunny aspect,
and the deep, juicy green of fields and meadows
the wind was chill and we made for home quickly
after just one circumambulation of the castle.

For many beautiful pictures go to http://ourworldtuesdaymeme.blogspot.co.uk. The folks there will be happy to welcome you.

  8. Hi dear Friko - it is very beautiful all around where you live, very worthwhile documenting it by taking photos! And you are good at it, really - thank you for letting us have glimpses to enjoy! :-)

  9. Friko, I just upgraded my computer and had a huge headache with the new Photos application, so I simply pulled up the iPhoto and use it for now, which is not what they recommend, but it works. Lightroom is the way to go it seems. Easier to categorize and to post-process in. I just dread starting a new system, but I will not use the Photo application as it stands for now, it does not offer the options I expect. I also use two browsers currently. Google Chrome is a whole lot faster on Google product sites, such as Blogger and G-mail, but trouble on the Yahoo flickr site it seems, so I keep Safari on hand. Firefox was the one that gave me a headache trying to comment on your blog in times past. Ah, technology, it never rests, always bothers us to learn something new.

  14. How frustrating about your store of photos.
Today's though, are delightful, with green greens and very blue blues.

  15. "Verdant" isn't a word I've needed to pull out much of late, given our droughts, but the droughts are over, and we have some of the same, high-quality green that you show here. While the first is lovely, and enticing, it's the swaths of yellow in the second that intrigue me. I was tempted to think "crop" when I saw the larger patch, but that meandering ribbon of yellow suggests wildflowers. In either case, the color's a lovely complement to the green, and adds a good bit of interest.

  16. I agree with "Suenosdeuomi" . I left internet explorer and firefox behind long ago and find Google Chrome so much more user friendly when Blogging. Too bad that app isn't available in UK yet. Perhaps you should leave them a note or perhaps the "Apple Helplines" will get it done. They are most friendly bunch. Your first photo is lovely with all the different greens and the bridge in background . I like the fact that Queen Anne's Lace is prominent which leads to the two footpaths and then the bridge. I like the contrast of Castle Bailey against that beautiful sky. Very well done.

  18. Such lushness for the Queen Anne. We won't be seeing Queen Anne's Lace for at least another month. I get lost in it. :)
Ah, the trial and the joys of the internet. Hope you will be able to retrieve those photos.

  19. that picture of the queen anne's lace and the river is beautiful. the river here is brown and the banks are overgrown. but with all the rain this last winter and spring it does have a lot of water in it.

  20. Truly beautiful, Friko! You live in a heavenly landscape.

  21. Friko, when I was a little girl my Mom warned me to stay away from Queen Anne's Lace because ticks dwelled there. I obeyed her, so never learned if her warning was true. As an adult in NYC I do not encounter beautiful Queen Anne's Lace, except in photographs as lovely as yours. Many thanks for sharing the landscape, and best wishes on sorting out all computer conversion requirements.

Wish you could have been at last Saturday's parade with me! xo

  23. Love the last shot. My husband had to upgrade to Yosemite to continue to use his email from work. He's had lots of problems. We are in the States so his photos transferred, but he hates the new Photo app. Nothing looks the same and it's hard to find his pictures that used to be well organized. - Margy

  24. Doing battle with the computer is serious business, but don't give up.

I haven't seen Queen Anne's Lace since we moved to California. thanks for the memory of its wildness.

  25. Your world is looking particularly lovely these days. The Queen Anne's lace and the river is a gorgeous shot, full of the lushness of spring greens.
Good luck with your Apple. Our family is divided between Apple and the Other. I'm of the Other persuasion, but the Apple folk are quite evangelistic in their fervour.

  26. So very green! What is growing in yellow swaths behind the castle, Friko? I'm trying to store less photos on my new hard drive. I don't want to take up all that space again. Good luck with the computer. Remember, you're exercising your brain cells!

  28. Hi Friko - looks like my summer of discontent is about to happen - a gladiatorial or Saxon sword oriented swipe with Apple and the pc mix and match I seem to possess ... and need to understand and grasp .. Wonderful views ... cheers Hilary

  29. That Queen Anne's lace photo takes my breath away!

Hope your photos are backed up on an external drive or stick. Reading this reminds me that I have to get the past few months transferred over. I trust no computer, even the good ol' friends!
