When I worked as a groom in Epping Forest, my colleague and I would sometimes ride a couple of the horses to the pub to buy lunch. This brought back memories. Thank you.
Goodness, when I was riding there were no dayglo stripes and no safety helmets...and now I'm in Costa Rica where there are no dayglo stripes and no safety helmets...time to get riding again!
Hi Friko - did they paint them brown to be different? Gorgeous picture - and just what rural life should be like .. isn't that fun to see and think about .. love it - cheers Hilary
Does the White Horse Inn not have a resting place for horses? :) I have an ancestor who used to take his horse and cart down into your town when he went for a drink or several. Sadly, it was to be his undoing as he died one evening in an accident on his way home.
Excellent! :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!

ReplyDeleteIs this a horsey kind of place?
ReplyDeleteWonderful and amusing photo, Friko!

ReplyDeleteYou can lead a horse to a watering hole, but you can't make him drink.
ReplyDeleteha. hope they have 3 scoops too...smiles.
ReplyDeleteWhat? White horses can go in, and black and bay must stay outdoors!
ReplyDeleteAn outrage.

ReplyDeleteJust knew I had to open this one before bed!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous. Loud smiles - and thank you. This is a sight I would much, much rather see than a car park.
ReplyDeleteGreat picture! I'd have taken one, too, had I walked past this scene.
ReplyDeleteha ,hadden ze niet op witte schimmels moeten komen?

ReplyDeleteFunny! The horses' grooms are smiling.
ReplyDeleteum, those are brown horses.
ReplyDeleteLovely. So appropriate.
ReplyDeleteWish I could parallel park. It's always into a parking space head on or twice round the block.
ReplyDeleteNo yellow lines there then!

Thank goodness the valets are keeping the saddle dry for me!
ReplyDeleteWow, those are some orderly horses.
ReplyDeleteWhat's the penalty for being Drunk In Charge of a horse ?
ReplyDeleteLuckily reverse parking wasn't mandatory!!!
ReplyDeleteNice to see

Ha.. very good. :)
ReplyDeleteBroad smile. I like your playfulness. Those horses are so cool they need Wayfarer Sunglasses. I once read somewhere: Happiness is a dark horse. ~Mary

ReplyDeleteDEar Friko, what an eye! And a sense of the ridiculous! Peace.
