Oh Misery !

First it looked like everything would change,
we’d tax the rich and allow the poor to eat without feeling guilty.

Children climbed trees and parents sat underneath
awaiting the miracle of rebirth.

 Horses grazed peacefully
and riders took a breather.

Then, Oh horror!
It all went down the pan again;
another five years of fat cats getting fatter
and belt tightening for the rest of us.

They’re lining up to chuck themselves off the cliff!

Oh Misery, Oh Horror.

  1. You just need to remind yourself that it could have been much worse . . . . . . . OK I'm lying.

No it could have we could have ended up with Boris Johnson as Prime Minister . . . . . AH DAMN.

  2. I forget which politician it was now, but he made a very salient point about the less well off paying for the sins of the fat cat bankers.

  3. It is, unfortunately, the same all over.

  4. Beautifully mis-used! I feel and share your pain as a thinking non-wealthy person. . . .

  5. I would say the photos re well-used. I just wish it weren't necessary. These election results are deplorable.

  6. Well - we are all in this together - not sure if that brings any comfort. I, for one, am so very weary of the entire game being played around us. So not looking forward to the months ahead as rich candidates make promises they will never keep.

  7. Ah, the election. I wasn't quite sure which had the best platform -- you don't hear that much over here, at least where I am. But given that I am more liberal than conservative and the Conservatives won -- well, I hear you loud and clear.

  8. Makes me so very glad to be out of it.

  9. You are a very divided bunch. We changed here after 44 years. it feels great .

  10. I follow your politics on RT.com....They were worried about this election and the politicians in the pockets of the "banksters". How on earth does austerity work when the middle class get brutalized and the rich get richer? We feel for you and are getting worried ourselves!

    :(
that's a world-wide misery I'm afraid and every election, no matter where, has the same results.

  12. Hi Friko - an interesting weekend ... I'm just glad we're not all hanging around for Hung Parliaments. I appreciated the VE Day Service and Remembrances ... but your photos are brilliant and so well used ... or abused - who cares - gave me a lift for an early Monday ... cheers HIlary

  13. Sounds that you all had a great time!

  14. Friko, be careful what you wish for, especially in politics. We had changes here and what is the result? Worse, worst and worstest and on top of that strikes and fights and nobody is happy or even hopeful for the future. But everybody in politics gets fatter and fatter and we have the highest density of politicians as there are 3 communities.., that is 3 parliaments for 10 million people. On top of that all the EU seats. At least, you will have a referendum for the EU, we are even not asked.

  15. New Labour's Old Guard seem to have be doing quite well for themselves , though . Perhaps they could give (free) workshops on how to survive the next few years in style ?

  16. A great misuse of photos. Love your take on the past few days. Better had tighten our belts now.

  17. The people have awoken and no longer trust those in charge (namely Stephen Harper) - ever so slowly, as elections take place across the vastness to Canada, Stephen Harper's troops (Gang) are being elected out FINALLY, after years of serious money being stolen and mis-used, he and his gang are getting voted out. Hallelujah Voters.Love how you fitted the photos in. Great. Have a nice week.

  18. We had to prevent a Labour/SNP coalition somehow . . .

  19. I had to laugh at your description of the election. I was really surprised by the outcome, and I guess I'm not alone. But please don't throw yourselves off a cliff! :-)

  20. I have such problems sorting out your system -- coalitions and PMs and all that -- but there's no trouble at all figuring out the politicians generally. Promise whatever polls well, get elected, ignore promises, get rich. The end. Not for them, of course, but for us, more than likely. There are real threats in the world they seem determined to ignore. Most of them will arrive on our doorstep long before the planet warms or cools or reverses on its axis: whatever the latest on that is amongst the gurus.

  21. oh, same here. the rich own our government and something that I don't understand, they want to end all the social programs to help the hungry and needy. it's not like the measly amount of money in the government budget that goes to help is hurting them in their pocketbook.

  22. Even when you're all excited for change because you get in who you want...it doesn't always change much at all. :(

  23. Friko, your photographic recycling is creative and very on point.

Do you know that old Who lyric...meed the new boss, same as the old boss...

Is it truly likely that it will be another five years before another general election, barring the occurence of something astounding?

Be glad that you do not have to keep hearing about the inevitablity of H. Clinton for the next year and one half. Very depressing.

  24. Seems to be in all European countries the same ! All politicians are promising the heaven on earth, but once the elections are over it's getting worse !

  25. I don't understand your politics Friko - yet..... but I do get your wit clever girl. :)

  26. I hope you are kidding. Compared to Conservatives over here Cameron is a lefty.

  27. Oh how I agree. I was in tears on Friday morning. A close friend from Wales has said she wishes to return to the Valleys but her husband said that they largely voted UKIP there. She also mentioned that Edward Heath would look like a Leninist to the Tory party nowadays.
I feel like a stranger in my own land.
