An April Day Upside Down

In My World April has gone out like a lamb.

Here is Valley’s End bathed in the last rays of the afternoon sun,
with storm clouds gathering on the horizon.

The Castle delicately shivering in a green puddle.

Angry clouds dissolving in the river.

Green, blue and silver, that’s Millie’s haven.

There are many other beautiful worlds. Click on the link and you shall find them.

  1. I like your castle shivering in the water. Hey, I see you like Barbara Pym too; I mention her in my blog post today.

  2. No , it was just April-y here, again . Driech and wet .
    No castles , either ...

  3. I just want to crawl into your photo of Valley's end and live there. I want to stay there forever, with that warm sun, that beautiful green -- and I wouldn't mind being in the photo with Millie, either. That would be quite all right with me. It looks today as though all is right in the world for you today.

  14. Hello:

Such wonderful images. The castle reflected in the pool of water is pure magic.

How lovely is the English countryside at this time of the year.

  15. These are beautiful pictures, Friko! If I were to make a photo calendar of your area, the first picture would be my choice for the month of April.

  18. I really can't complain about our weather. We have had some beautiful days and then not too much rain. Enough of it to make the farmers happy, I think. Of course, I am speaking just of my province and my part of that. I like your photos and how they show typical British elements that people have come to expect. I think they especially appeal to the Americans who have a tendency to be sentimental about the "Old World." They think we all live in a storybook.

  20. Friko, this post is one of my favorites of yours. It is a photographic poem. As you might know, I like reflection on water very much and all your reflection images have its own story and are fascinating. The first photo is like a painting – you live in such a beautiful and pastoral place.

  23. Angry clouds dissolving, and castle shivering…Word pictures with so much depth of meaning. The photos add even more to the sensory imagination. Millie lives in the most wonderful place, and of course, so do you. April, leaving as a lamb, is good news.

  27. How wonderful to live in this fest in the nature of this wonderful world of ours. I live surrounded in concrete, but that said, not so far away is a green hill, sure it might be an landscaped old coal heap - but all that is green has recaptured it.

  28. How green and beautiful your world is, Friko! And I love that photo of the castle reflected in the water -- and all of the rest of them, too! It's so nice to see Millie enjoying nature's riches!

  29. The photograph of the castle's reflection is just wonderful. Our April here has certainly not gone out like a lamb, cold and pelting rain. But these photographs make me feel hopeful, all the same.

  36. So much water… It's unbelievable. This is what it's like in my world (and these are the professionally captured, 'oh my god these are gorgeous and who ever really gets to see the world like this' pictures-- there's NOT that many rainbows and sun spatters and water droplets, I assure you. It's mostly cactus and sun baked ground… but still beautiful in its own right.
