Up a Tree

artwork by Jeanie Tomanek

So, here I am;
up a tree;
 climbing up was easy,
now I’m stuck.

How do I get down?

Stop laughing, birdbrain,
fat lot of good your tiny wings are on me.

  1. Too funny, this happened to me as a child. They called the fire department to get me down. I'm now afraid of heights. Your top photo is gorgeous - would love this view for a month or two's vacation! (smile)

  4. So there I goes
    To wait until a gale it blows
    And makes me frown
    For what goes up, must come down
    (sorry about that :)

  11. Wonderfully done, Friko. It's a good thing you included the prompt picture, or I would have imagined you actually up a tree in your garden.
    I enjoyed this very much!

  14. When I was about 10 I climbed one of the tallest tree in our neighbourhood. I didn't look up or down, I just climbed. When I stopped I could see the next town over and it scared the crap out of me. How the heck did I get so high and what was I thinking? I climbed down and never climbed another tree.

  15. Hi Friko - getting up is easy isn't it - or was wasn't it! Great fun to read and think back on those memories .. I always look at trees thinking I could clamber up them .. no more, no more - she cries!

    You saw the Lindisfarne Gospels at the British Library - their normal place of residence ...

    Cheers Hilary

  16. And just what were you intending to do with that basket. Stealing birds eggs is a no-no. Dianne

  21. Absolutely spot on with the picture. I had a friend get stuck in a tree once. She was five and I climbed up and fetched her down. I was a fair bit older so it was easy.
