Delays in Blogging,

blog visiting and commenting are due entirely to being happily occupied gardening.
Only three weeks to go to the big weekend.

Apart from that I have just about enough time and energy to take Millie for walks.

Everything is fine.
All three of us collapse in front of the telly at night.

I need a couple of rainy days to stop me spending every minute of the day outside.
(only kidding - they’ll arrive soon enough)

  3. But it is exhausting too, isn't it? I hope you get a day off soon. We are looking at a rainy day on Monday. I hope it is the only one.

  4. Superb photographs in a lovely light.
I gather you're making the sort of progress you like....

  5. Ich schwoere Dir ich kann den Flieder riechen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If I would be any where near I would come to visit your garden, that's for sure! :-)
Do not overdo this garden happiness, remember to care for yourself, gut?

  6. One rainy day out of seven might be a good thing, to keep your garden green, and you and Millie rested.
Our recent rains have dropped off, although the forecast is still for thunderstorms tomorrow night. Unfortunately, they don't always bring rain, just loud noises to frighten Lindy.
Your garden looks so beautiful, Friko, I'm sure it will be a hit on the tour. I hope those lovely lilacs last that long. There's a volunteer outside our front door, and at first I thought the leaves looked like lilac, but they're not, so the clippers are sitting beside the door, waiting until I go out that way.

  7. So so beautiful. I laugh at the cat, and my heart stops at your lilacs. Thank you for sharing.

  8. How wonderful! I wish I could see it in real life. You are - as I have said before - lucky to live amidst such beauty.

But ooh, don't wish for rain!! :)

  9. This is so pastoral and lovely it almost makes me cry. I love the pic of Millie walking. Sure do hope those lilacs (right? Purples?) stay in bloom for your big gig soon!

Oh, how I should love to be there.

  11. Glorious ! It's as though someone's just turned all the lights on and suddenly everything's so very green .

  12. All is looking very beautiful round your place, Friko. Glad also that you are getting daily relaxation time, too.

  13. Loving the photos of your lush landscape. See - the snow and rain did bring you gifts! Enjoy your time outdoors, Friko. The snow has finally melted in my yard. I'm busy gardening too.

  14. Wow, the countryside in your area is just beautiful, no wonder you spend so much time outside.

  15. I totally understand as I have been doing the same.

The area you live in is breath-taking. I love seeing you pictures; they look like something from a travel book.

  16. Your photos and the scenes you show are sublime.

  17. Enjoy this weather while it lasts, Friko. Plenty of time for blogging when it's raining again. Your garden and landscape are looking spectacular in the sunshine.

  18. Same here. Since we have been spending half of every week in the city, I've been trying to get as much done outside as I can before it gets too hot. Which is starting to happen now. Everything looks beautiful, your pictures, I mean, not the results of my efforts. Our garden club had their yard tour a couple of weeks ago and I know how much work it takes to prepare for one.

  19. You live in the most beautiful spot on earth I sometimes think when I see your photos. Enjoy the digging in the dirt, the soaking up of the sun, the walking of the dog, and the resting after a perfect day in your corner of the world.

  20. Wonderful pictures. I love the landscape and those lilacs!

  21. Is that the Cheshire cat in your lovely garden? And what a fragrant gathering of lilacs that must be!! Good to hear you are feeling well and happily engaged in playing in the dirt. We are under continual rain downpours and the gardens are intensely green and growing but need attention. Being just 5 days post-wedding though I need a few days to recuperate as we are all deliriously exhausted.

Idyllic images and your Millie looks great!

  22. So beautiful! (Both your garden and the scenery around it.)
Only three weeks until the open garden weekend, isn't it amazing how quickly this first half of the year is racing past? Only five weeks now before my trip to Yorkshire to see the family!

  23. Oh my. Your garden and your environment are making me drool a little. They are both so very beautiful. Please take care of yourself though...

  25. How wondweful you are out and about and not overly excited. I love that Millie takes her own walk (along with you of course). My little dogs pull me around the streets. What a lovely walk.

I am so envious of your views. Enjoy your sunshine, it's rainy here today and bound to head your way on the Gulf/Jet Stream, although these storms may be quite diminshed by the time they reach you. Dianne

  26. Glorious!
Is you garden part of an open garden day/walk? I know such an expanse takes up a good deal of time and effort to keep up, but, I'm wondering if I missed something along the way and your garden is to be featured. Our old garden was about 10 years ago. Phew! A lot of work, and a lot of joy, especially the "day off" as we saw it through the eyes of others. At any rate, Friko, take care.

  27. How lovely it all is. Your garden, walled in from the countryside, but still so much a part of it. Did you choose this place to live particularly for its surroundings? Sublime.

  28. What a gorgeous yard. I will no longer want to post photos of my yard!

  29. What beautiful pictures -- thanks for visiting Linderhof. As to the bacon breadsticks -- each tube has 12 breadsticks so cut in half that's 24 -- then I use just 8 pieces of bacon to make 24 so there is one per breadstick. Hope this helps -- original recipe was one breadstick and one slice of bacon -- I like to think this is "healthier"!!!!

Enjoy them -- they are so good and so easy!

  30. Wonderful photos. Love seeing Millie on her walk. Happy gardening! We had a good day of it today, though when I look at the result, I think, gawd, Friko would have a good laugh at this. Nonetheless, it was a perfect day, and lovely to be out there putting plants in, finally, and watching the bluebirds carry on.

  31. Oh, Friko, your garden and surroundings are so beautiful. Under such a fine weather, I understand how you can’t keep still. How happy to be active outdoors till sunset and to collapse on the sofa at night! Rainy season set in at the end of May here in Japan, but we have a dry rainy season so far, and I’m worried a little that there could be water shortage in August if we don’t have enough rain at this time of year. Nature should be milder between floods and drought.

  32. Hi Friko - quite understand you wanting to be outside - just for the opportunity to garden, let alone that big day. The garden is looking wonderful .. the sculpture especially ..

Bet Millie is enjoy her walks while you spend a few minutes enjoying the view, without pulling weeds ...

    Cheers to you - Hilary

  33. What a marvelous spot you live in, made more lovely by your efforts. Catching up on your posts and thinking of you cowering in memory of those awful bombing raids. What terrible things we do to each other, and yet, in the same life you are deliberately sowing beauty.

  34. I have also spent every day outside and enjoying every minute. Your garden looks lovely.

  35. All beautiful, but I especially love that second photo.

  40. What beautiful countryside. It must be such a pleasure to have a beautiful garden to tend. And you waited so long for the fine weather, you will want to make the most of it while it's here.
