Sunday Quotation (3)

Mimir,
guarding the entrance to the hollow stump
of a once proud sycamore.

"Knowing how to grow things is important if you want to make a garden,
but not as important as people make out;
it's knowing where to put them that matters."

Mary Keen, 1987

  3. Boy is this quote right! It seems that every time I plant something it ends up being to big or too small for the area or too tall for the breezes or blooms at the wrong time and clashes with the blossoms next to it or ends up being a crazy spreading takeover plant!

  6. Feng shui for gardens! Is Mimir hiding the hollow part right there? It would seem so as he's covering his mouth in a private joke.
    Friko, good luck this week with preparations.

  7. Dave King - a graceful compliment humbly accepted.

    QMM - thanks for your blessings.

    Tabor - Don't I know the feeling !! And the frustration.

    Rain - Thanks a lot.

    Robert - Again, many thanks, I'll be popping over to your blog right now.

    Margaret - The hole is right behind Mimir; he's not really a very benevolent spirit though, I think his private joke is probably a slightly nasty cackle.

  8. Oh that is so true. My previous husband used to say my plants should have wheels because I was always moving them! I am a bit more careful now.
